Flames lit up the night sky over Hainan Island August 10 after China’s Long March 7A failed right after liftoff.
China has been aggressively pushing its space program, chasing a lunar base and deeper exploration of the cosmos. It’s interesting that we are now living in a Space Race 2.0…but instead of Russia its China.
State media has claimed the rocket “experienced an unidentified anomaly during flight” and that an investigation is underway (as reported by the Associated Press)
The Long March 7A which had a long lasting rocket launches since 2021, was carrying the ChinaSat 4B satellite, designed for internet and broadcasting services, with a payload capacity of 7 metric tons. It launched but 85 seconds later, the rocket blew up.
It’s still too early to know the real cause. And let’s be honest: the Chinese government isn’t goijg to tell us the story.
Of course, Elon had something to say about it “Rockets are insanely hard”, he wrote on X.
